André Vieira is a Brazilian/Portuguese photographer, visual storyteller, and journalist.
He is a recipient of the prestigious World Press Photo award, a finalist at the Conrado Wessel awards, and a recipient of grants from the IPRN Foundation and VG Bild-Kunst.
Vieira’s work has been published in some of the world’s leading news publications, like The New York Times, The Guardian, Telegraph Magazine, Monocle, Der Spiegel, Stern, Geo, Das Magazin, D la Repubblica, among others.
He has covered stories in South, Central, and North America, Africa; Europe, and Central Asia. His work was exhibited in group shows in Belgium, Hungary, Japan, France, Finland, Peru, Paraguay, Bolivia, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. It is also part of the collection of the Instituto Moreira Salles, in Brazil, the Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts, in Japan and the Ruhr Museum, in Germany.
After doing extensive work in the Brazilian Amazon, Vieira has been dedicating his attention in recent years to environmental issues in Portugal, to where he moved from Brazil in 2017.
